If extraction programs can’t retrieve data needed from a cell phone the user can input data manually. Documents can also be added to the case if needed.

To create a manual case, select the type of phone to include in the report.

After selecting the type of phone to include in the report, fill in the known General Information.   Add additional information for CDMA phones or IMEI numbers for GSM phones. Fill in the phone model, evidence number, and a description for the report.

When the general information is complete, enter Photos, Contacts, SMS, Call history, IMEI, MSISDN, and other available information.  When all data has been entered, click <Complete> to add the report to the case tree. To start over without saving the data click <Discard>.

Report Label: Enter the label to be displayed in the Case Tree.

Model: Enter the model name of the device.

Evidence Number: Enter the evidence number where applicable.

Description: Enter the description of the device.

Add Photos: Select the type of photo – front, back, data plate, logo, headshot – and click the camera icon to use a built-in camera or the file icon to use photos stored on an external storage device. If <Other> is selected for the photo, enter a photo title in the space provided on the left before selecting the <CAM> or <FILE> source.   A <Rotate> icon is located at the lower right corner and each click rotates the image 90 degrees until the desired viewing position is displayed.
