This menu is used to load data into DART, show the case tree, export report package, and exit DART.
A report is data extracted from an individual phone or SIM card. Data can be extracted using commercial or freeware programs but must be in a supported XML format to be imported into DART.
A Case is created when two or more reports are loaded into DART. When a Case is completed, or set aside temporarily, the report data for that investigation is saved as a Package. Reload a Package to re-analyze data, add new reports, or analyze several packages as one case. Investigations involving a single phone would remain as a Stand Alone Report.
Call Detail Records (CDRs) are data recovered from cell tower records for a specific phone number. This information is provided by the Service Provider. Generally a warrant is required to obtain the information. Investigators should be aware of Local, State, Federal Regulations and Service Provider policies and procedures needed to acquire tower data.
